Venice Canals Walkway is a unique system of canals and roads located in the Venice section of Los Angeles, California.
The area boasts man-made canals built in 1905 by real estate developer Abbot Kinney who wanted to recreate the feel and appearance of Venice, Italy in southern California.
It is easy to spot people in rowboats in the area or doing kayaking and canoeing in the several canals that criss-cross the area.
There is a paved route bordering the six artificial canals and offer an ideal and scenic walkway. There are a dozen bridges that shape above the canals and enable shifting from one location to other.
In the area it is common to move along lush plantings, flowers with their fragrance besides watching some great buildings with Italian architecture, California bungalows, split level houses and Cape Cod style cottages.
It is also easy to notice ducks and geese frolicking in the waters of the canals that get its source from the nearby seawaters.
The Venice Canals Walkway is a beautiful and natural area in the neighborhood of Los Angeles and offers a great respite from the noise and traffic in the Venice section of the city and elsewhere.
