Rosie’s dog beach is a dog park on the beach in the city of Long Beach, California. It is part of the area of Belmont shore beach that is designated for off-leash dogs. The park is the only off-leash dog beach of Los Angeles county and is forty five minutes south of Los Angeles proper.
The beach dog zone is located between Roycroft and Argonne Avenue along the Ocean Boulevard. The park is located east of Belmont pier and there are lot of shops and restaurants nearby.
Dogs are allowed in the dog zone between 6 am and 8 pm and only one dog per owner is allowed. The waves are not really big in the beach so dogs wont get washed away into the ocean. There are lots of dogs in the area, big, little and chihuahuas and is a great place for dogs to socialize.
There are balls thrown for the dogs, dogs jumping in and out of waves and chasing each other behind people’s beach chairs. The area is a pet wonderland named after Rosie the bulldog and is a four acre non fenced area in the long wide beach.
There is a low, made for dogs water fountain in the area and dog walking and dog playing are popular activities on the beach.
