Oceano Campground – Pismo State Beach is a beach located on the Pacific coast of California and is seventeen miles long wide, flat sandy beach backed by sand dunes, shrubs, trees and flowers.
The beach fronts the towns of Pismo beach, Grover beach and Oceano in San Luis Obispo county in California and offers some of the best beach activities in the state of California.
The beach is managed by the California Department of Parks and Recreation and the area includes some great beach relaxation and exploration of flora and fauna of the place. Activities in the area include camping, hiking, swimming and surfing besides fishing.
The place is home to the famous Pismo clam and other marine life like anemones, crabs and sea urchins. The beach is a popular place to do some bird watching and there is also the largest colony of Monarch butterflies in the US.
The Pismo State Beach Nature Centre exhibits birds, butterflies and plants and there are active nature education programs for campers and school students. There is a fresh water lagoon nearby and also a nature themed gift shop.
The beach offers an ideal destination for beach driving, kite boarding and biking in the scenic trails.
