La Jolla Cove is located just around the bend near Scripps park in La Jolla, California. This small, picturesque cove and beach is surrounded by cliffs making it an ideal natural resting place for sea lions to raise their young.
This is a beautiful spot for a walk, some sunshine, or a picnic along the beach on the Pacific Ocean. The water here is warmer than most places in San Diego, so you may want to enjoy some surf.
Nearby is tide pools for children to enjoy and even a children’s beach with small marine mammals for children to marvel over.
The Cove is protected as part of a marine reserve; underwater it is very rich in marine life, and is popular with snorkelers and scuba divers.
The surrounding area, is mostly residential however up Prospect road, there are dozens of restaurants ranging from fast food to fine dining . The area is often times very crowded and the smell from the seals tends to be strong.
