Capehart Dog Park is a small park on the border of the Pacific Beach and La Jolla communities in San Diego. This small park seems to be a secret of the communities as it is small and hidden on the side of a hill connected to Kate Sessions Memorial Park.
The Capehart Dog Park offers two gated areas for dogs to romp leash-free. The smaller section is for small dog only, while the larger section can host both small and large dogs, depending on the comfortability of the dog.
A parking lot separates the two areas and there is typically plenty of parking. Capehart Dog park also provides some picnic tables and lawn chairs for dog parents to use while the pups play. It is recommended to bring doggie bags to pick up after pets, as courtesy bags are usually donations and cannot be promised.
The Capehart Dog Park resides at the bottom of Mount Soledad Road leading from the Pacific Beach community to La Jolla. It can only be reached via Mount Soledad Road. Close to the park is also Kate Sessions Memorial Park, which is also a dog friendly area, but dogs need to be kept on leashes while enjoying the park.
